What is Amazon Seller Central?

Amazon Seller Central was launched November 2006. It allows users to sell items that were previously not available on Amazon, such as handbags, screwdrivers or golfclubs!

How can we help you use it

If you’re selling on Amazon, you will be interested in our Cascade software.

Cascade is an all inclusive platform for online sellers, which focuses on streamlining and increasing the efficiency, and further boosts the number of sales through Amazon, and other retail websites. This helps you to optimise sales, save time, and increase profit margins. This allows you to concentrate on the important things, like growing you business!

The Story behind Amazon Seller Central

Since its launch in the UK and Europe, new customers are now being encouraged to sign up for Seller Central and existing customers are being slowly moved across to this package.  So what is the difference between Pro Merchant and Seller Central?

Seller central allows you to list products that are not currently sold on Amazon.

This might initially sound like a bonus but it does have a major downside, as you are required to provide a great deal of data in your product upload.

Seller central allows you to configure your own shipping rules.

This can be useful, but again the fact that you need to configure these rules does mean extra work.

AIMs is not currently available to seller central customers in the UK and Europe

AIMs allows sellers to fully integrate their systems with Amazon.  This service is invaluable as it allows the developer to upload product listings automatically and to monitor the status of uploads (essential when automatically repricing and re-uploading products).  AIMs also allows orders to be automatically downloaded and processed.

However I was informed that AIMs will be made available to Seller Central customers after 16/06/07......   Watch this space...

Conclusion

At present we would advise clients who extensively integrate their systems with Amazon to sign up for a Pro Merchant Account.  This will allow them to take advantage of the AIMs service.

However once Seller Central offer the AIMs service we would advise some customers to sign up for this service instead of Pro Merchant.  Customers who would benefit from Seller Central are those who sell products which are not all currently listed on Amazon.  These are likely to be those who traditionally might have had more success selling though portals such as eBay.
