Rock Deformation Research

Rock Deformation Research (RDR) is structural geology consultancy and research firm that was born as a spin-off company from the University of Leeds. They conduct specialist research in deformation and fluid flow in the sub-surface, and required a new website to provide information about RDR, and project their corporate image. In addition, RDR asked Giant Systems to integrate a sophisticated web portal that could allow restricted access to the work and findings of multiple project work within the company.

We built a functional site that has a clean and professional image appropriate to a specialised consultancy form like RDR. The site is fully content managed allowing the web administrator to add an unlimited number of pages, and set different levels of access to their various users.

The most important section of the website is the “Knowledge Transfer Area”. This is a secure, password protected area where project clients, sponsors, and RDR staff can conduct searches within a knowledge database to access project reports in a searchable PDF format, data, maps and executable models from the database. Search results can be filtered according to a specified search criteria, and there is also a secure upload/download facility for transferring files to and from RDR.

Digitalmediastor e asked for an attractive ecomme r ce site for selling digital products such as memory sticks, computer produ cts. I n additio n they required a full integration with Amazon Seller Central.

We developed a professionally designed ecommerce website built upon our Cascade platform, with both Amazon and eBay listing capabilities. All items are stored in a single inventory, and then pulled onto the three portals for sale. On Amazon, Digital Media Store will also benefit from our sophisticated re-pricing capability that ensures that every product listed is automatically compared to other listings, and adjusted so that it is suitably priced to beat the competition.

Children's Lighting (in development)

Arthur English Ltd, the company behind childrenslighting.co.uk wanted five separate websites to enable the launch of the company’s online sales. Each website marks a different category of indoor and outdoor lighting including:

Outdoor lighting
Bathroom lighting
Lamps and lighting
Children’s lighting
Energy savers

We produced each website with a bright colour scheme, which presented professional looking images of the products.Each site benefits from being built upon the standard Cascade platform, with bespoke Amazon integration. Five separate inventories are stored in the centralised back office which each feed into the five separate sites.

The Garden Centre

TheGardenCentre.co.uk provides a quick and easy way of buying garden furniture online. We built Garden Centre a bespoke website using our Cascade platform, allowing the display of their products in a stylish and accessible way. The site is attractive and simple to use, with large pictures of the products on offer throughout.

In addition, Casade’s back office system allows a hundreds of products to be published on Amazon Seller Central and eBay. All listings, including those published on the Garden Centre website are pulled from a single inventory in Cascade automatically, generating bulk listings at the touch of a button. This saves time, which in turn keeps the profits margins up!

Also, listings on Amazon are subject to a sophisticated re-pricing feature (according to personally defined rules). Consequently, this gives The Garden Centre a competitive edge over competition, which together with the new site will encourage customers to buy furniture in a trouble free fashion. In return this will promote customer satisfaction, brand awareness and customer loyalty.

Since moving to the Cascade platform The Garden Centre have seen increases in sales across their product range, in particular sales of aluminium garden furniture , Patio Heaters and Fire Pits

Horse Deals

HORSE DEALS is the UK’s number one website and magazine for Horses for Sale and Horseboxes for Sale. We helped them to re-launch their brand and approach to business by creating a bespoke ecommerce website built upon our Cascade system.

As well as being able to post and view adverts for horses, Horse-deals.co.uk allows you to choose from hundreds of equestrian products to buy there and then. This website is also unique in the sense that it works in a similar way to eBay, letting users enter a variety of search criteria/terms that operate simultaneously to narrow the viewer’s search for products. Items may be purchased through Paypal, and the order is then processed through the back management system.

In addition, our copyrighting services were employed to create an attractive multimedia advert which operated as part of a low key exhibition stand aimed at launching the new website. The end product is a video with clean script writing and a clear voice over. The design is of good quality, and has helped to boost brand aware

Tshirt Expert

Our most recent ecommerce website was launched for Don c aster business Tshirt Expert. Set up by our own fair hand, its bright a nd use r frien dly website allows you to buy personalised clothing for any occasion, including hen nights, stag nights, holidays, other events, or for business clothing and work wear.

Simple use of Ajax allows provides an intuitive, user friendly and responsive user interface. For example the following page allows users to choose from a selection of over 125 individual Tshirts:

Usually this would be split across 5 separate pages, but Ajax allows presentation on a single page.

The site also fully meets accessibility guidelines.

DGP Group

DGP Group is one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of packaging solutions for dangerous and infectious substances. DGP have a truly global outlook, and despite being based in unassuming York, have offices and customers in all parts of the world.

Due to their global outreach, DGP required a website that could be easily viewed in multiple languages; yet remain as easily updatable by themselves as it is viewable by their varied customer base. For this reason they chose Giant Systems, and the all inclusive FlexCMS Content Management System to organise the content on their website. Now DGP’s clients have the option of viewing the site in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Japanese. There is also an American option for converting weights from metric to imperial.

DGP Group also required a site which could offer different prices and products to customers based upon certain criteria. Giant Systems developed a client login system which enabled DGP to create customer specific pages, products, items and prices. This has enabled DGP to target their customers much more efficiently, and thoroughly streamline the order process from both sides.

Nanofactory is dedicated to signposting and showcasing the world-leading expertise, capabilities and facilities in the micro- and nano technologies developing across seven Yorkshire universities.

The site incorporates a comprehensive membership system allowing users or groups of users to be provided with personalised information and services. The site also benefits from full Search Engine Optimization allowing it to be represented in all major search engines.

The site is directly funded by the University of Leeds who contracted our development services to develop, host and maintain the site.

Blanc Wal

Blanc Wall create reproductions of original fine art, photography or objects using advanced 3D scanning techniques that allow the capture of true detail and no loss of quality. The website features an exclusive tool that allows customers to upload or choose an existing design, and interactively select and crop only part of the image, discarding any part they do not want.

The site incorporates a comprehensible and attractive design, is easily navigable and conveys pictures and information about Blanc Wall and their products. The site has an order system and shopping cart, and a fully integrated back office, and also benefits from full Search Engine Optimisation allowing good visibility on all major search engines.

Room 7 is a chic designer clothes and accessories online retailer who advertise and sell products from the likes of D&G, Chloe, Alexander McQueen and Juicy Couture to name a few .
Their website is designed to portray the exclusive and high class quality goods available. Room7 asked for a fully functional ecommerce portal which supports a shopping checkout, login account plus ‘wish list’, and the relevant information on the company and their products. In addition there is a comprehensible multi currency payment option and fully integrated back office management system. The site equally benefits from high visibility from its Search Engine Optimisation functionality.
